Winding Down

Working from home attire is pretty much leather leggings, loafers, and an oversized knit. If I happen to venture outside the house I reach for my Mansur Gavriel bucket and suddenly feel properly dressed up to see other humans long enough to hold basic conversations like, "A small coffee with room, please."

Powder Blue

Let's imagine for a second that the Proenza Schouler f/w powder blue heels are mine for summer instead of fall. And then let's also pretend I wore them with amazing MIH jean shorts, a lovely checkerboard Zara top, and a touch of retro shag with the Proenza shearling clutch. Sounds like a great plan except for the whole "seasons" thing. I guess this is my way of saying I'm obsessed with it now and cannot wait for the pieces to be tangible reality. Let's call this Adventure Outfit 2.0.

1. ZARA top, 2. MIH denim shorts, 3. KAREN WALKER sunglasses, 4. PROENZA SCHOULER f/w 2013 pumps, 5. PROENZA SCHOULER f/w 2013 clutch, 6. MICHAEL KORS watch

Proenza Schouler

You've got to hand it to the two men behind Proenza Schouler. Being the cool kid is such a transient part of someone's life, if ever, and yet they have continuously found the formula for transforming fabric into such an effortlessly cool and feminine piece. The shoes, for one, are right on top of my Fall 2013 wishlist. They embody the bows that I am so enamored with, plus the intricacies of what can only be described as oversized doilies, but in leather. I fully support the turtleneck becoming the next "it" accessory. Turtlenecks have a deep-rooted place in my memory, starting when I was a child and wanted to wear them under everything. They remind me of everything cozy and practical that was part of my childhood, even the beautiful way my mom layered them under both mine and her clothes. That memory may not be front-row fashion worthy, but fashion to me is personal, and my favorite part of this collection was how comfortable it made me feel. Proenza Schouler trampled on completely known territory for me, memories even, and that's why I love it: Oversized layers, fuzzy fabrics, and a sense of being completely covered, yet absolutely desirable.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

I'm hardly ever a fan of brand-on-brand styling but I make the occasional exceptions for beautiful instances like Proenza Schouler's fall pieces. They just so happen to look their best when paired with other Proenza Schouler fall pieces. The embroidered embellishments in the amazing peacock sweater are so mesmerizing that all I want to do is pile on the embellishments by adding the coordinating and equally shiny skirt. The accessorizing is the mix-matchy fun part: 3.1 Phillip Lim Della witch booties in a patent leather, Wolford knee high socks, a VPL bra, Lulu Frost tassel necklace, and a geek chic pair of Prism optical are just enough to handle the overly-embellished school girl vibe with aplomb.

Warm & Fuzzy

I'm in a winter state of mind as I write this because I'm getting notifications of "What's New" from online shops and my wish list is growing rapidly. The latest look I'm obsessing over is just a modified version of what I like for summer. Sure there's a collar, but now it's a fur Marni collar. Worn over a patterned ChloĆ© sweater and with adorably colored merlot Charlotte Olympia half calf kitty flats. The same kitty flats in black that I have been obsessing over for months. The bag, always that bag, is the classic Proenza Schouler PS11 in navy. Why navy? Because I'm still in a Summer Olympics spirit and realize that when red white and blues in an outfit are more berry and gem colored, the overall effect is less patriotic and more like this.  Delectable. Last but not least are a leg-elongating pair of wool Joseph pants, because I'm 5'3" and my aspirations to be tall have been replaced with finding ways of looking tall.

The Bat Man

Nothing like dressing down and incredibly fine Missoni crochet knit and leather skirt with a relatively inexpensive, yet all the way cute, Marc by Marc Jacobs bat tee. Playing off the deep rich purple hues, sky high Giuseppe Zanotti suede ankle boots work right in, and the muted texture in these Illesteva Leonard 2 sunglasses recall the skirt's texture as it frames your face. The grande finale in form of a classic Proenza Schouler PS11 bag.

Art Decadent

A perfectly polished mix-match of luxe materials that work together thanks to a hyper-edited palette of muted navy and black. The Proenza Schouler PS1 in navy compliments the black and blue combination of  The Row Norick leather pencil skirt and The Row Wembley wool and cashmere top. Art deco inspired Cutler and Gross star detailed round frame sunglasses and  Christian Louboutin Just Picks 100 studded patent-leather and PVC pumps finish off the look with a healthy balance between classic shapes and modern acetate touches.

Guns + Roses

Admittedly, the leather pants is not a great idea if you live anywhere hot & humid. Which means that if you're not in the Bay Area, excuse the pants portion of this outfit, and just imagine in your head they are something more practical like these shorts. (If you are content to remain impractical in your warm weather habitat then feel free to ponder these leather shorts).

Getting dressed in the Bay Area, in the summer no less, has confusing questions such as: What will the weather be like today? Will it actually be hot? What kind of bag do I need to carry my flat shoes and my sweater?

Well, behold Bay Area women, this is your answer. You nip this in the bud and come to terms with the nonsensical weather and dress like it's pre-fall all the time. If the weather actually spikes above 70 in San Francisco, then feel free to remove your sweater to expose your pale skin under a tasteful sleeveless top (with SPF!) to the sun.

Feelin' Hella Versatile

What's the point in buying an expensive Proenza Schouler PS11 leather clutch, a pair of Carven sunglasses,  A.L.C. Brice leather pants, and killer Manolo Blahnik CC pumps  if you can't rework them in other combinations?

We've seen how it could look graphic, very Gwen Stefani, here, so now behold the softer approach to wearing all that black leather. The peplum top by Three Floor is light as air and beautiful with the dreamy combination of baby blue and nude. The nude inserts, however, are less sweet and more badass, which is appropriate since you're pretty much rocking leather in every other aspect here.

Feelin' Hella Good

A graphic outfit inspired by the one-and-only Gwen Stefani. Her style is impeccably consistent throughout the years, not to mention trendsetting. She eschews current trends for whatever the hell she wants to wear, and I am really into that. This makes her a style icon, in my opinion, and she'll always by my 90s, braces wearing, pink hair dyin',  "Don't Speak" angst queen

Get the Look: Rosie Huntington Whiteley's Love For Leather At The Airport

There's only a few people that I see wearing this much leather and looking that good. That's pretty much what Rosie Huntington Whiteley does when she steps out to any nearby airport. So I thought, why not try to emulate this supermodel inspired outfit? An All Saints leather motorcycle jacket play well with J. Crew half calf leopard flats. Current Elliot leather pants are the ultimate Rosie staple, topped off with her ever-present RayBan aviators. Proenza Schouler's travel bag with the top handles and the cross body strap are pretty much the best thing you'll ever have while juggling a passport, a laptop, and a carry on (unless you're Rosie, then you have people for that. People like Jason Statham).

In Which I Dress Down A Graphically Fantastic Pair of Thakoon Shorts

Remember these utterly cool shorts from Thakoon's Spring 2012 fashion smorgasbord of a show? At the time, you're like "Ok, those are probably the best thing I've ever laid eyes on," until you thought about the degrees of practicality they'd have to fit into to live your life amongst normal non-fashion enthusiasts.

Well, this is how it's done, people. Judgey looks aside, this outfit is literally adorable. It's very much professional, with a trippy dose of the graphic and a charming embrace of the color coral.

The shirt is a crispy piece by Erdem, casually tucked into the much spoken about Thakoon shorts with gold details. We embrace the potential for madness with some trendy circle sunglasses by The Row, and come back down to practical land by using your Proenza Schouler iPad case as a clutch (not everyone has to have an iPad nor cares for one, plus its cheaper this way...not sorry!) and finally, some Burberry Prorsum woven ballet flats that manage to pick up every single piece of brilliance from the Thakoon shorts.

Lovely, no? Not at all coo-coo.

Brighter Than Sunshine

This is one of those feel good outfits. The kind that make you feel pretty and surprisingly cheery despite whatever reality is serving up. It's comfortable, girly, and modern all at once. A Theyskens' Theory slouchy tank is tucked into a Proenza Schouler pleated skirt and topped off with a very Stella McCartney colored A.L.C. yellow sunshine blazer. Accessorize with soothing honey colored Oliver Peoples acetate sunglasses, the entirely sexy Bottega Veneta neon and nude buckled sandals, and an understated woven textured Burberry Prorsum wristlet.

Happy Monday, people.
