Wear this Now: Vactionland

STONE COLD FOX, J.CREW, ALL SAINTS TOP AND BOTTOM

2 weeks until vacation. Say it with me: Yassss. So I spend my time daydreaming about frolicking on the beach in expensive cover ups that are completely impractical for my life.

I will be skipping on this Stone Cold Fox silk dress because I just won't get enough use out of it with the Bay Area weather to justify the price, but that doesn't mean I won't highly recommend it to any wild child in Southern California.

Off With Her Heard

CAMEO dress (c/o Adela Mei) (size S), ALL SAINTS jacket (size 4), CARVEN collar, VINCE corduroy leggings (size XS)

It's nice that it only took my mind months to figure out how to correctly articulate the runway trend of of wearing pants under dresses without completely feeling like one of those toddlers who choose to wear their entire mismatched closet at once. Although it's hard to tell from a photograph, the pants I'm wearing are a super-tight corduroy, which is a nice texture contrast to the dress's jacquard feeling material in real life —plus, it's much warmer than tights, you know in case you find yourself in San Francisco during our freaking summers. It took the right dress and the right cut to make it all click mentally. It turns out a voluminous drop waist like the one in this Cameo dress is a good way to balance out any sort of pant, as long as it is more slim fitted or simple than the volume up top.

Keeping it Simple, Introducing the 12:04:Shop

"New in" is a pretty terrible way to start a blog post, in my opinion. I read blogs to be inspired by a point of view, and while that sure includes photos of new things I'm really more enthralled by the bloggers who show people how to put those hard earned new things to work in real life. Having an out-of-the-box post and then never seeing the new item again is really quite irritating, because I lose the feeling of "realness." Does this make sense to anyone else?

People who spend their time to visit my blog on a daily basis are very important to me, and I want to make sure I do right by your time by making sure I don't get caught up in the more frivolous nature of fashion: the over-spending, shop-'til-you-drop behavior that is pretty easy to fall into. I work a full time job that sometimes demands crazy ass hours, and in those crazy ass hours I feel a need to treat myself. This is where drawing the line between treat and downright overspending gets tricky. Although it's tempting, over-consuming just for the sake of having the latest does not interest me.  Yes, these CĂ©line sandals are my new thing, which came with a hefty self-imposed guilt trip after just spending what I consider a small fortune on Balenciaga boots, but I purchased them with the intention of wearing them with everything. And when I stop wearing them with everything you'll see them up for sale on my shop because I'd rather have someone else enjoy them than having them sit in my closet, gathering dust for months after the initial love affair has passed.

So my point is the 12:04:SHOP is my "new thing" today, not so much the shoes. And while most items in my closet eventually go to Goodwill,  the more special things like Karen Walker sunglasses and Marc Jacobs shoes I once was obsessed about will go to the shop.

Coming Soon: Styling Them Célines

Currently editing some CĂ©line outfit shots from last weekend. This future post is in part dedicated to lifestyle guru Grant K Gibson, whose Insta-shoutout has given me inspiration to set the bar higher when styling these insane nude sandals.

Weekend, I'm Ready for You.

EVERLANE silk top  /  ZARA sandals  / ALL SAINTS shorts / RAYBAN sunglasses / MARK CROSS trunk bag

This seems totally weekend to me. I'd go have brunch in this outfit. Maybe see my mama, too, and get some groceries. There's no need to wear sweats anymore when doing casual things I've got slouchy distressed denim. The Mark Cross trunk bag says I'm a power player, while the Everlane silk top just drapes nonchalantly like French muse Charlotte Gainsbourg. In this hypothetical, we've blown our bag budget acquiring the Mark Cross trunk bag, so let's take it easy on the finishing touches, yea? Zara sandals and Rayban Clubmasters are going to work just fine.

All Saints For My Angel

All Saints gets me right now. Gamine, modern, edgy, feminine, and regimented. So on point.

Alexander Wang, too:

All Saints

My first leather jacket purchase that is sure to be the first of many at All Saints. Sure I've worn it plenty of times and featured it here quite often, but there's nothing like the dusk of Dixon, California to really bring out the detail in jet black leather. Quilted leather I might add. Like many people, I fell in love with that Balenciaga quilted leather jacket, but was completely overwhelmed by the hefty price tag. After a long search and disappointment to find that many brands use very thin leather for highly priced jackets, I discovered All Saints. It is a perfectly reasonable alternative to the designer items without feeling like a total teeny bopper. All Saints is one of my favorite shops now for their emphasis on quality leathers, craftsmanship, and most importantly, price point! I'm wearing the Rally Jacket, which is a hybrid of a biker jacket, with an asymmetrical zipper, plus quilted leather sleeves. Trust me, you won't be sorry! Check them out, but beware of the UK sizing:

Not At Coachella

Though I was not at Coachella this weekend, I was not deterred from enjoying some sunny weather of my own in Berkeley. It was legitimately hot for the first time in months and I could not help but wear my new All Saints Carey dress. It's sheer, black, and has buttons down the front. Did I mention it was loose? It kind of has to be when you're prepping to eat at Tacubaya on 4th Street. It's one of my favorite places to go when the weather is nice. Accessories, no need for complications. Aside for a special affection for Karen Walker sunglasses, I have a current obsession with these vintage tiny diamond rings that I got from my mom. She has the smallest fingers I've ever seen and had these custom made when she was young in Mexico. Not all of them fit past my knuckles. But I kind of like it this way, since it highlights how dainty they really are.

Get the Look: Rosie Huntington Whiteley's Love For Leather At The Airport

There's only a few people that I see wearing this much leather and looking that good. That's pretty much what Rosie Huntington Whiteley does when she steps out to any nearby airport. So I thought, why not try to emulate this supermodel inspired outfit? An All Saints leather motorcycle jacket play well with J. Crew half calf leopard flats. Current Elliot leather pants are the ultimate Rosie staple, topped off with her ever-present RayBan aviators. Proenza Schouler's travel bag with the top handles and the cross body strap are pretty much the best thing you'll ever have while juggling a passport, a laptop, and a carry on (unless you're Rosie, then you have people for that. People like Jason Statham).
