The Cropped and the Fabulous

Since we're on the subject, here are some inspirational examples of a crop top. Layering it over a dress is super smart, like Kelly Framel did. Hanneli Mustaparta seems to be unstoppable, baring it all the way up to her navel. Let's remind ourselves she's a model, though. Jenna Lyons of J. Crew has a very interesting and utilitarian take on the concept of a crop by wearing a cropped-front Derek Lam coat, with a extra long coat tail. It looks brilliant the way she layered it on top of a crisp white shirt, tucked casually into distressed slouchy jeans. Her style is unparalleled and is one of my personal favorites. The top picture? I'm not sure who she is, but she is the inspiration for my own journey into the self-conscious cropped sweater territory.

I know it's a lot of images of high profile bloggers wearing an exclusive and limited edition Opening Ceremony kitty cropped sweater, but believe me, it can work for sweaters without cats.

Mood Board: Best of 2011, Hanneli Mustaparta

There has to be something said for a former model and fashion blogger who knows how to work the crap out of anything. Whether it be capes (really, capes?!), Rag & Bone skinny jeans, or those dubious-looking platform Prada sneakers....If she photographs it, we're all over it.

Now Your Laptop & iPad Can Be A Philophile, too. Feauring Capulet London Luxury Leather Cases

It's always a problem: You put so much effort into making your work outfit perfect, but then reality strikes when you realize you need to carry your laptop, your Kindle, your iPad,on top of everything.

What's worse, the cases are probably either downright hideous and just scream "FRY'S ELECTRONICS."

Panic not, people. We have the solution, or at least I do: Capulet London.
They make leather cases that actually make you want to use them WITHOUT the gadgets. Especially the little ones.
The prices are up there, but these are meant to be loved. Think of them less as technology covers, and more of a fashion accessory. Then you realize that a Céline clutch or any other designer leather envelope clutch costs thousands, is probably sold out, and isn't made specifically to hold and care for your precious social media gadgets.
I'm getting 2: the 13" Laptop case for my future Mac Book, and a Kindle clutch...because even though I don't have a reader, I want it as an envelope clutch.

Just When You Think It Was Safe Not To Be Completely Jealous Of Hanneli Mustaparta, She Goes & Wears This Outfit For Vogue

She wears an absolutely adorable Stella McCartney floral swing coat, with the cheeky spring floral print that I'm dying for. Hanneli also pairs a kelly green Tory Burch flap bag with a comedically miniature cerulean Miu Miu key chain (which she uses as an actual purse, believe it or not), and perhaps most unbelievably: pairs this adorable outfit with funky blue suede chunky Office shoes and CVS Pharmacy socks.

You read that right: CVS pharmacy. Socks. The kind you find in the way back of the store while you pick up your prescriptions. I thought those only came in handy for wearing around the house, in a pinch while you're traveling, or in general for anything BUT wearing on your feet.

Somehow, this pushes me over the edge, and makes me all the more obsessed (and insanely jealous) of Hanneli's style.

Check out the rest of her style, as profiled by vogue.com here.
