Wear this Now: Un-Skinny

Make no mistake, this is a dream closet scenario. I can probably stretch to afford one of the items and let my house rot, but what fun would that be? I can't live in these clothes, but it sure is nice to look at them.

SXSW

This is what I'd be wearing if I was at SXSW this weekend. Alas, I was not there. In my industry (advertising) only the few and the proud (not unlike the Marines) get to go. But a girl can dream, can't she. I read that Fiona Apple was playing there (!!). But you know what? I can at least mentally prepare for what it would be like by lining up a sweet little cowgirl-like outfit like this. The highlight of it is a choker by Lanvin with black ribbon ties. It's naughty and nice. Who knew! The dress is by Paul & Joe Sister, the epitome of cutesy. While this brand tends not to be friendly to shorter females, like myself — I proudly hover just at 5'3", they are worth taking to a tailor because the fabrication and the prints are fabulous. Finally, the boots. They are by Fiorentini + Baker, one of my personal and absolute favorites. They do tend to break the bank, I'm sorry, but they are totally worth it. So, not sorry. I own a pair very similar to these and they are a work horse of a boot that look better the worse you treat them. Beat them like the horse that they are! Don't be shy! I'd accessorize with these sweet lassies. A rather dainty yet punk-inspired Philippe Audibert spike bracelet in a sweet rose gold. A classic pair of Stella McCartney aviators, and a completely appropriate Aurélie Biderman Hook 'Em Horns ring.

Valentine's Day Every Day

This is what love looks like. Just sayin'.

A real provocative Markus Lupfer sweater with a sequined mouth is the way to kickstart some romance, no? It plays to your sense of the graphic while sticking to the irresistible pastel covered spring 2012 palette. What better way to highlight such a cutsey palette than by using shades of gold. Rose gold to be exact. I'm thinking an amazing Maison Martin Margiela rose gold metal and fabric belt. Have you ever seen such a beautiful thing? No, right?! Plum colored 3.1 Phillip Lim pants in a silky fabric keep things, how you say, sensual.

Accessories time: Sticking with our optimistic theme that we saw herehere, and here) let's put on some  Stella McCartney rose colored glasses. Punk and luxury meet in the middle with a Valentino studded clutch (love this so much),  a rose gold Michael Kors watch, and topped of with super-on-sale DSquared2 Furia Heels.

This is love. Get used to it.

The Royale (Blue) with Cheese

You have to admit that you both love and hate the hyper-realist Stella McCartney Hawaiian print resort pieces. It's just the right about of kitsch and the right amount of trendy. So why not go all out with the theme? Royal blue Illesteva sunglasses, Alexander Wang bag, and some sincerely great Céline-esque Hope sandals. The Haute Hippie leather shorts are the cheese in this equation though. Retro style elastic band? Yes please.

Brilliant. Now if only it were summer already.
