Tiger Beat

Hard and soft, young and bold. The combination of Theory leather skinny pants and all its bold implications are perfectly countered by the youthful charm of a Mulberry sweater. Covered up á la French with an Étoile Isabel Marant Diego wool coat, and topped off with some luxuriously leopard J. Crew half calf ballet flats. The YSL structured bag is completely revamped in a punchy green, which is surprisingly versatile, but (admittedly) not as fun as the blue one. Which is on wait list. Sad.

I'm personally going after that Diego wool coat because I felt so bummed after missing out on the perfectly wool draped, oversized French appeal of Isabel Marant's outerwear last Fall. Not this time! And let it be known that J. Crew ballet flats are the best. Period. I have a pair of patent leather Mary Janes that are about 5 years old and still an everyday staple.

The Fine China

A little dressy and a little not given the chambray shirt. Perfect for weekend dress up duties with semi-casual dress codes. Can I just mention that the adorable Mulberry Teddy bag is on sale? It's very tempting since it's a) a chain bag, and b) contains quirky metal hardware, two things I love in a bag. What do you think?

Shop it: Mulberry beige mini Teddy bag  Illesteva Frieda round sunglasses
Marc by Marc Jacobs chambray shirt  Repetto ballet flats  J. Crew No. 2 Pencil skirt

A Short Story

Weekend wear that's slightly school girl, a little athletic, and all the way chic. The strict palette of black, white and grey help keep this from getting lazy looking. This is your uniform, of sorts. Shop it: Marni tri-color wool sweater, Marni twill striped shorts, Prism cat eye acetate frames, Mulberry studded suede tassel bag, Charlotte Olympia kitty flats.

Invest In Your Sanity: Pieces You Need For Trying Days When You Have "Nothing To Wear"

Simple, clean, effortless. Seems easy enough, right? That is an endless uphill pursuit some days, when all I need to get out of the house is an outfit that just works. Those trying days where nothing fits or  looks right  are solved by an outfit made of transitional easy pieces like these: Classic, leg-elongating The Row pants, topped off with a fitted superfine Theory t-shirt with a contrasting athletic stripe down the sides. Minimalist and modern The Row cat eye sunglasses literally got with everything, thanks the the transparent acetate and soft brown lens. I am a little blown away by the price, but when you find something that just works (damn it), I find it hard to resist calling it an "investment in my sanity."  The heels? They are sex on your feet, courtesy of the leopard print by Givenchy. Finally, the studded and tasseled bag by Mulberry is refined, lady-like, but with a hard edge. Put yourself out of your misery and invest in some of these ASAP.

Say Hello To Mulberry Cookie Bayswater

I'ts my new bag obsession. It's very lady like, very Hérmes Birkin, but scalloped for the youth of today. Sorry, Birkin owners. But that's so old money. I want the black one, to be honest, but my rational color-infected Spring brain is saying "get the yellow!", which Mulberry is calling Ochre. Buy the fancy Ochre here, or if you're like me, get the brown one and the classic black
This picture up top is amazing, right? Like virtually test driving the bag. You can almost feel the suede interior. Eff that, OWN IT.  It comes in a cute mini size, which you can get here.

Adorable!

City Festival

While many of us don't have a short shorts type of workplace, where you can parade around the office with about 2-inches of fabric between you and your crotch, most of us do have that kind of weekend freedom. Because this is America, thats why. So in our free time you can choose to dress like this, taking cues from the people at Coachella. Like Kate Bosworth, or Arizona Muse

You can wear extremely short Ksubi shorts with a paisley print Peul & Jose sister silk-blend blouse and still look refined. The chain bag is the perfect way to keep things lady-like, so do it with something a) cute and b) miniature like the Mulberry cookie mini bag. It's scalloped and has a chain bag. Adorable! The Cutler and Gross clear acetate sunglasses are a nod again to the hippie-ness going on in Coachella, while the Zara embellished T-bar flats are just plain beautiful.

I know it's barely Tuesday, so maybe just wear this with a pair of skinny jeans in the mean time, alright?

A Case For Women Wearing Track Pants Outside The House

Rainy days make you want to give up. It ruins your shoes, the sideways rain ruins your make up, and your hair is not going to be your friend all day. Luckily, there is this delightful trend for Spring 2012 called "athleticism" which makes it okay for fine grown ass women to wear track pants, you know, out of the house. Which is ideal because it's raining, and as we've already discussed, getting dressed and looking great is going to be a little more difficult with stormy weather.

When track pants are made out of silk and are more of a tuxedo inspired hybrid, like the ones shown by Elizabeth and James, it kind of makes you feel less like a bum, and more like you're Emmanuelle Alt. You think, "I can wear skinny pants and be oh-so- French looking with my classic pumps."
Pumps like Jimmy Choos patent Abel pumps. From there, it's easy, you've got a great base founded on comfort! Top it off with a super soft long sleeve Mulberry baseball tee in a super clean blush color, and accessorize with classic Ray Bans, a clean structured DVF clutch, and a bold Maison Martin Margiela rose gold cuff.

Now you're in business. Emmanuelle Alt style.

Mulberry Resort 2012

I think the shoes with matching color socks are a cool way to update the sock-with-pump look, almost like they were booties. The whole 50's inspiration is just enough to be retro but still completely wearable. I love the simplicity of the styling most of all, the fact that you can wear a full skirt, at a pretty easy-to-wear length, with a whimsical t-shirt, pull on some pumps and call it a day.
