BALENCIAGA ON ROMANCE
What a lovely balance of masculine boxy shapes and feminine ruffles. Love the no-frills fabric choices, simple to a fault. I'd be tempted to call this all pretty if it wasn't for the fact that it's so freaking cool. IT's rustic meets city, gritty meets clean cut. But isn't that what Balenciaga tends to do every time? Minimal jewelry, boxy tops, interesting crops and hems, choice amounts of leg. The new equation for sexy, I think.

A Jenna Lyons Army: J. Crew
Having Jenna Lyons as a muse and Executive Creative Director of J. Crew means that she gets it: people want to dress like her. People like me, who work in office buildings, have a penchant for preppy, and despite the creative freedom in the workplace attire professionalism and dollar signs still rule. A couple seasons ago J. Crew took a turn towards the influential, upping the status of their catalogues, models, styling, and editorials to be cutting edge, aspirational, and becoming completely addicting — similar to what looking at a Jenna Lyons outfit is. You look at an outfit she has put together and like a Miroslava Duma she mixes high and low fashions to achieve something entirely unique. So looking at these pieces for Spring 2013, the mix and match possibilities are pretty exciting for me already. I can see myself wanting to layer a blazer or printed tops with a little bit of Suno. Playing down the buttoned-up-ness of it all with some slouchy track pants, or grunging it up with some Marc by Marc Jacobs pattern play.

Let's be honest, the Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2013 show is an homage to the grunge girl he introduced in the 90's, but with the colorful and youthful spirit of the Marc by Marc Jacobs line. Admittedly, the style seems like it's totally nonchalant, and not as refined as other collections, achievable by mix and matching prints from your closet now. Despite this, I'm impressed by the enthusiasm it exudes. The collection is not about taking fashion too seriously, and it is totally wearable, albeit completely casual. It's the homebody's uniform, in my opinion. Pin your hair in a messy bun and throw on a scarfy-turbany thing, and run out to CVS. Low brow? Yes, but low brow is about 20% of my week, and I'm happy that it can look this jovial.
Phillip Lim's Beautiful Tribute to the 90's
The sheer and layered take on plaid, the asian infused slouchy bomber, and the iconic "i heart NY" t-shirt integrated within all of it. I love the 90's slacker styling, but am on the fence on those mod (sheer?) booties. Those type of boots are not very flattering on hippy frames like mine, so in my continuing adoration of this one look I will assume those are sensible sneakers or a leg lengthening minimal heel. The only two ways to go, in my opinion.

Messy fishtail braids, prim and proper proportions remixed with the global wears of Mexico, the tropics, and Morocco. I'm excited by the styling possibilities with each and every piece in this collection. Can't you just see a super sleek black suit, with a punchy pom-pom collared shirt underneath and a playful MAC Ruby Woo lip? I can. And I can't wait to use the Peter Pilotto-esque sandals with minimal dresses. My favorite thought, though, is the idea of mixing athleticism (long and lean track pants and sleek baseball caps) those fishtail braids and some cut offs with layers of those embellished necklaces. This is exactly what I was talking about being inspired. Tory Burch has really transformed in my mind, from a pretty stuffy brand better known for (ugh) tunics, into something that speaks to a fashion forward female with ass kicking business sense. Were you inspired?
The Hills Are Alive With The Sounds of Suno

Let me be completely honest and say one of my favorites from New York Fashion Week was Suno. so let it be no surprise if you see two (maybe three?) posts dedicated to the intricacies of zoom shots, full body styling, and candids. Suno as a brand started off so strong, with a strong way with prints and casual take on cotton. Year after year, I have slowly fallen more and more in love with the way they keep their looks feminine, unique, and edgy, despite the use of all that print. A head-to-toe black wearer like me is inspired every time I see Suno strut their stuff. I love the cheeky cell phones that come out of nowhere in this collection, and I am obsessed with the circular elements that are layered into the floral prints. The collars, of course, were the main lure for me, I'm glad to see them make another sweet return for Spring 2013.

Love the off-duty ballet dancer look. Very urban Black Swan with attitude. And the ear cuffs are insanely edgy.
