No. 21 Bleeding Pockets

One of my way belated favorites from Fashion Week was No. 21. It has the conservative and preppy elements, like collars, cardigans, an pencil skirts, but with an element of boyish cool. At first I was on the fence about the bleeding pockets, but now in retrospect find them very charming in the way they disrupt the overall buttoned-up nature of each look. Reminds me of Comme des Garçons and Dries can Noten, with an element of 3.1 Phillip Lim cool.

BALENCIAGA ON ROMANCE

What a lovely balance of masculine boxy shapes and feminine ruffles. Love the no-frills fabric choices, simple to a fault. I'd be tempted to call this all pretty if it wasn't for the fact that it's so freaking cool. IT's rustic meets city, gritty meets clean cut. But isn't that what Balenciaga tends to do every time? Minimal jewelry, boxy tops, interesting crops and hems, choice amounts of leg. The new equation for sexy, I think.

IN LOVE WITH DRIES VAN NOTEN

First 3.1 Phillip Lim mashes up the grunge 90's plaid, now Dries Van Noten makes them look cool, layered, and unconventionally styled. Very inspiring.

Taylor Tomasi Hill, Modern Woman

Loving all the street style images from Australian Fashion Week. So laid back and unique! Love it all.

Love Letters To David Hockney, Rochas Fall 2012

The layers upon layers of texture and deep bordeaux colors create a moody atmosphere for touches of color to pop. The thick glasses remind me of David Hockney, and the retro Mary Janes with chunky heels, the tweedy wool fabrics, and funky orange background gave me an all around 70s vibe. Love that red lip so much.
