Let's Be Real: Karl Lagerfeld Watched A Knight's Tale Before His Couture Show

You can just imagine Karl sitting in his immaculate white house watching reruns of A Knight's Tale on TNT, snacking on organic celery when he got the major inspiration to dedicate his Spring Couture collection to Shannyn Sossamon's character in the movie. Uncanny resemblance. I ain't mad.

Clean Lines and Shower Shoes, LFW / NYFW Favorites

Whistles /  Narciso Rodriguez / J W Anderson

I love the persistence of lady like staples, like pencil skirts and shift dresses, but done in an excessively clean way. Whistles won me over with the simplicity of a pale pink shift dress paired with a toned pair of legs in easy peasy shower shoes. And the J W Anderson almost origami-like ensembles are so easy to attempt in real life that I will definitely try it out, maybe even mix in some of Narciso Rodriguez' color blocking.

Channel Your Inner Cholo, Alexander Wang / NYFW Favorite

The takeaway: crisp shirts, clever pleats, one-buttoned button ups, and pleats are the name of the game

Tweed-Muled Bandidos, Derek Lam / NYFW Favorite

The takeaway: Minimal can be luxe western with the addition of some bandit-style fringe.

Honor System / NYFW Favorite

The takeaway: Young ladies will wear wicked sharp flats with dainty straps across, and prefer their pencil skirts with sheer lace inserts.

Stick 'Em Up, Rodebjer / NYFW Favorite

The takeaway: scarves are the new statement necklaces, and if possible, you will coordinate them with your sheath them skirt.

Like a Feather, Lacoste / NYFW Favorite

What a pretty revelation from a brand known mostly for polos and the preppy gator logo. What a lovely idea to be not only preppy, but ethereal at the same time. It seems almost easy.

The takeaway is to wear a strict palette monochrome nudes and white layers, and make them airy and delicate.

Scarlet Fever, Creatures of the Wind Style / NYFW Favorite

My fashion week coverage consists of pieces that I can see myself wearing to work, to parties, and being overall practical in my mortgage-paying, late office hours, happy hour-going life. One of the early favorites so far is Creatures of the Wind. They're always bright and a little offbeat, but I really enjoyed how a classic pencil skirt and utilitarian shirt dress can seem almost new and novel with the addition of a punchy red color.

The take away is wear a monochrome punchy color and keep the face clean.
