NYFW Favorites: Boxy Layers from Creatures of the Wind + Richard Chai Love

So far at New York Fashion Week, it should be noted that if you're going to layer, layer with like-colors, boxy shapes, and preferably a maxi dress or a slouchy pair of pants. I am personally smitten with the incredible allure that these looks are projecting, despite being completely covered from head-to-toe. If anything it says that a) you will be warm this coming fall, and b) you can still look sexy without all that skin. 

Scarlet Fever, Creatures of the Wind Style / NYFW Favorite

My fashion week coverage consists of pieces that I can see myself wearing to work, to parties, and being overall practical in my mortgage-paying, late office hours, happy hour-going life. One of the early favorites so far is Creatures of the Wind. They're always bright and a little offbeat, but I really enjoyed how a classic pencil skirt and utilitarian shirt dress can seem almost new and novel with the addition of a punchy red color.

The take away is wear a monochrome punchy color and keep the face clean.

NYFW: The Ragtag Band Of Misfits, Otherwise Known As Creatures of the Wind

Welcome to the circus! The Creatures of the Wind show was one that I was looking forward to thanks to the Hulu.com show The Fashion Fund. If you have not watched an episode of this you are going to thank me in a minute for the recommendation. The couple/designers behind this collection are as adorable as their collection. It gives a special brand of excitement to see these playful and quirky images on my screen — an emotion previously reserved for Marc Jacobs....more on him later.

I love the complete embrace of the crafty and hand made feel. The knits, the studs. It's capturing the entusiasm of an individual that customizes their clothes with studs, sequins, patches, and presents it with the polish of a prep-school girl.
