Tweed-Muled Bandidos, Derek Lam / NYFW Favorite

The takeaway: Minimal can be luxe western with the addition of some bandit-style fringe.

Odessa

Derek Lam Odessa sandals, Equipment shirt dress, Zara jacket, Karen Walker sunglasses, Marc Jacobs wallet, J. Crew headband

Oh, Derek Lam. These Odessa sandals first entered my mind two years ago via the Spring 2010 collections, and last year they finally became mine. I bought these in the middle of misty winter and have not had many opportunities to take out these blush suede beauties out into the world. Having them in such a light and feminine color is truly out of the ordinary for my typical dark palette.  I love the way these shoes have a certain ballerina feel to them — very girly, with all pink and lace ups — but then the more you look at them the more you they veer off slightly into a darker bondage territory — stripper chic, anyone? It's a fine line I guess, which is what keeps me so obsessed with these shoes.

I Want To Thank Jenna Lyons For Showing Me Such An Inspiring Way To Wear Spring 2011 Miu Miu Ankle Strap Mary Janes. Brilliant.

The combination may not work for everyone, but this outfit is the clear display of someone with a strong sense of personal style. Jenna Lyons, president and creative director of J. Crew, is walking the line between feminine and masculine, casual and refined, and I'm completely inspired by instances of her unique style. This outfit is the reason for today's surf culture, casual, tom boy mood. Enjoy! It's Friday!

The Real Real

Once upon a time I was obsessed with a pair of  Derek Lam suede lace up sandals. I saw them on the runway pictures at Style.com and was immediately inspired to seek them out in stores. Unfortunately, they never became mine, probably because at the time they were around $750. Sad.

Then, one day, while browsing The Real Real, a web consignment shop, I saw them again! Derek Lam! Spring 2010! size 7! mint condition! I hit the Buy button the moment I saw that authenticity was not a concern with The Real Real. They arrived at my office and, in typical fashion, I squealed with glee.

Since then, I have been literally checking this site every single day since I bought the Derek Lam lace ups.  If I could find something I've been obsessing over and missed out on the first time around on The Real Real, what else could I find?

And wouldn't you know it?The lovely people at The Real Real have offered 12:04 readers an exclusive promo: Add promo code "1204" at checkout and get $25 OFF any purchase of $50 or more.

What will you find on the site? Hurry, the promo ends Feb. 29th.

NYFW: 10 Crosby Derek Lam

Another collection, another opportunity to wear deep red for Fall 2012. I'm really into the 70s influences in this 10 Crosby Derek Lam collection. I adore the dinosaur printed buttoned up top in the first photo. The continuing use of button up shirts is something I'm really happy to see. The addition of textured knits in in school girl peplum shapes, topped off with white leather accents and fur is irresistible to me. Plus, it's Hanne Gaby Odiele! She wears this collection so well and infuses it with her own quirky and renown style.
