What else do you wear when it's over 100 degrees outside, and you're thousands of feet closer to the sun, and your muscles ache from the previous day's hiking and swimming activities, and you're thirsting for some real city-coffee, not whatever Nescafé concoction they've got going on here in the Sierras? You wear this. The anti-outfit, in my opinion; no makeup, no shoes, a super sheer tee, and pants that are about 2 men's sizes bigger than your body. When the view is as beautiful as it is everywhere in the Sierras, you'll see why there's really no point to getting all dolled up around here. I highly recommend a trip like this.

Not At Coachella

Though I was not at Coachella this weekend, I was not deterred from enjoying some sunny weather of my own in Berkeley. It was legitimately hot for the first time in months and I could not help but wear my new All Saints Carey dress. It's sheer, black, and has buttons down the front. Did I mention it was loose? It kind of has to be when you're prepping to eat at Tacubaya on 4th Street. It's one of my favorite places to go when the weather is nice. Accessories, no need for complications. Aside for a special affection for Karen Walker sunglasses, I have a current obsession with these vintage tiny diamond rings that I got from my mom. She has the smallest fingers I've ever seen and had these custom made when she was young in Mexico. Not all of them fit past my knuckles. But I kind of like it this way, since it highlights how dainty they really are.

This is so inspiring to watch, I just loved how the clothes looked so much better in context of this video. The styling is absolutely stunning and colorful. I have to admit I questioned the kitschiness of this on the runway, but I'm seeing how these can work individually now in real life. I'm literally dying over those sunglasses. Love the 50s vintage inspired frame with a colorful twist. Love the music, too. Watch the video for yourself. I dare you to not fall in love with the entire collection.
 

Ringing in the New Year

2012 is going to be a great year, starting with a new addition to my jewelry box, thanks to Anjolee.

They generously offered me a chance to customize my own ring at anjolee.com and I gleefully accepted. I ended up choosing a the vintage beauty band in gold with millgrain edge detail because I was looking for something delicate and vintage-inspired. 

A couple days later I receive this beauty at my office and literally squealed with delight: it's the perfect, dainty, feminine, stacking ring I've been looking for.

I'm definitely going to be checking out some more jewelry, starting with a  diamond wedding ring  Who says you need to be engaged to buy yourself a nice piece of jewelry? That's right, no one.
