"When I make me so damn easy to love"

I guess I couldn't help posting a short photo set as a teaser for what is to come later this week. After all, it's Halloween this week right smack in the middle of the week. If I had to dress up I'd most likely be Beyonce in her "Why Don't you love me?" video. Why? Because it's so damn cool, retro, and apparently most of the clothes were her own. I'd have to practice that Bettie Page dance, though, because despite the easy enough nature of the gyrations, once you get yourself trying it in front of a mirror it looks pretty damn silly if there isn't 100% commitment to the un-sexy dance.

Wearing: Juicy Couture sweater, Anthropologie headband, and not much else so far. Want a tip? Own a lint brush with this sweater.

Speak Softly and Carry a Big...Necklace

I guess it would be a bit of a stretch to say that the Big Stick Diplomacy would also be applicable to styling an outfit, but in my mind it does. I like the thought of wearing something on a Saturday that's totally expected, quiet even like a button up shirt and a pair of jeans, and then turning it on its head by accessorizing with a hard-to-miss statement necklace. This particular collar necklace looks stunning on bare skin and over crew neck sweaters, but my favorite way to wear it is by layering it under prim and proper collars. I even have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to this fascination of mine.

Napa Photo Diary

Wearing: J. Crew black watch plaid top, Repossi ring, Miu Miu sunglasses, patent leather loafers, J Brand jeans, vintage watch

I think technically this is Sonoma, not Napa as advertised (Cristina, the best host and event coordinator friend will have to verify). I guess there is a fuzzy recollection of us on our way to Napa proper for our first wine tasting appointment when there was a nasty accident on the main route, causing us to think on our feet (our brains were inundated in mimosas) and detour over to Jacuzzi wineries. We bought some bottles of wine, sat outside in the pretty warm sun and frolicked about the vines — with a camera, of course.

If You're Feeling Sinister

Love the severity an all white look can have, especially when it's accented with such a malicious looking ox blood red. I'm opening my mind to the options of white jeans, and that's all due to Isabel Marant. The off-white base and the piping on the side (not to mention the western pockets in the back), makes it a little more curvy friendly. Love Rochas and their shoes. They always look like a school girl's uniform shoes but a lot more luxurious. The Diego coat in an oxblood tweed is a sweet find this morning, but alas, it is sold out in my size. You will want to size down in this jacket, especially if you're 5'3" like me, but the effects of this oversized, very French sexy looking jacket is worth it.

In Which I Take a Sick Day

Had a pretty post planned today (about Napa!), but I'll just have to do it tomorrow or Monday. Instead I'll be here on the couch watching Dr. Oz and sleeping periodically while my body decides to feel 100%. In the meantime, enjoy more pictures and other things. And congratulate Maia (!!) on her wedding day. Have a happy Thursday!

This Is Everything

I never knew I'd be able to look at photos of someone else's wedding and suddenly just know of what I want it to be like. These photos are everything. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the dress is custom Givenchy inspired by the Couture archives, and on top of that (!), it can never be wrong to be holding it at Danielle Steele's palacial house in San Francisco. But if you keep all the special touches, like the pergola draped in spanish moss and jasmine, and keep decorations to a minimum, instead relying on beautiful architecture, it doesn't seem all that intimidating to achieve. I am drawn to how it just looks like its the most casual, beautiful day where everyone you love comes together dressed up to witness and celebrate something special. It's like The Great Gatsby on a sober day. People wearing what looks great on them, regardless of the color. What's more, it's not overly feminine, it's totally made for man and woman. I'm thinking on a smaller scale — less people, way less people —this is everything I want for me. For us.
